Vivo incorporates the first optical fingerprint sensor to place under the screen

Apple, Google, Huawei, Samsung? None of those brands are responsible for installing a fingerprint reader under the screen. The author of this advance is Synaptics, a manufacturer of optical components specialized in fingerprint readers.

A company specializing in this sector guilty of installing these readers on all phones. However, Vivo is the one chosen to equip the Synaptics Clear ID ™ FS9500, the only sensor that works under the smartphone screen.

This Chinese mobile will reach the markets during the first months of 2018. However, its adventure in international markets is still unknown, since it does not extend beyond the borders of the Asian giant.

The first tests, carried out by the Forbes journalists, have been successful, even the reporter Patrick Moorhead has pointed out that "the experience has been faster than expected".

Synaptics Clear ID ™ FS9500 is a sensor with only 0.7 mm thickness that can be placed under the screen. According to the Forbes journalist, it works perfectly even under the OLED panel of the VIVO mobile.

The engraving of the fingerprints and the recognition process is the same as that of any other external reader, common in the rest of the devices. In this case the screen draws a small fingerprint to direct the user when placing the finger.
