Lithuania bans Russian antivirus Kaspersky

The United States has already banned the installation of the program in its federal agencies

Lithuania will ban the products of the Russian company Kaspersky Lab, described as a "potential threat" to the country's security, on computers that manage crucial sectors such as energy, finance and transport, local authorities announced Thursday. "The government (...) recognizes that the Kaspersky Lab programs are a potential threat to national security," the Lithuanian Defense Minister said in a statement.

Government agencies responsible for "critical infrastructure" must replace those programs in "the shortest timeframes."

Washington banned Kaspersky Lab's antivirus from its federal agencies because it was concerned about "the links that some of the company's" maintain "with the intelligence services and other Russian government agencies."
