Samsung bets with its Galaxy Watch for a watch independent of the mobile

The new 'smartwatch' of the Korean brand offers three days of autonomy and antistress functions

Samsung continues its battle to make its weareables smarter and more independent. The Korean brand presented today the Galaxy Watch, its new smart watch equipped with LTE connection and version with eSim, the embedded chip that replaces the SIM card and, in theory, allows to select online services through any operator.

The universal card is already used by Apple Watch and Huawei Watch 2 although it is still not very operative due to the number of operators that lend themselves to its use. Samsung claims that there are more than twenty mobile phone companies interested in serving their Galaxy Watch (in Spain, it will be Orange, according to the ADSLZone portal).

The truth is that the new clock advances in autonomy. First because it can work when we are running or sleeping without having to have the mobile phone next to us. And, secondly, because its 472 mAh battery ensures a three-day autonomy (80 hours)

Stress control

The smartwatch , presented at the IFA consumer electronics fair, held in Berlin, has a new monitoring and stress control function to automatically detect different levels, in addition to offering breathing exercises that help maintain balance and concentration . It also performs advanced sleep monitoring by monitoring all levels, including the REM phase.

In the physical part, Galaxy Watch adds 21 new exercises and a total of 39 workouts that can be customized to create routines. Being resistant to water (up to 50 meters deep) allows any type of aquatic activity. In addition, it has a water drainage system that works from multi-frequency sounds and vibrations.

Samsung is still betting on its rotating circular bezel to change functions and integrating a digital aspect thanks to Always On Display, although the Galaxy Watch incorporates ticking sound like an analog clock and chimes that sound every hour, plus an effect of depth that integrates shadows and defines every detail in the body of the watch to provide a traditional look.

Galaxy arrives in two versions: one of 46 mm in black color and another of 42 mm in black and rose gold, for a price of 329 and 309 euros, respectively. It is available in presales, with shipments for September 18, and the pre-purchase until September 9, comes with a bluetooth headphones from Under Armor as a gift.

It incorporates a speaker and GPS to make activities easier, such as finding a location, or listening to music. Through the Spotify application you can listen to songs without connection or without a smartphone with Spotify in the "offline" mode. From Galaxy Watch with the SmartThings application, you can turn on the lights and the television in the morning, until you adjust the temperature before bedtime, or monitor the home remotely.
